Kanan Jaswal's Thoughts for the Month of December 2022

Dec 01:    Quitting is always an option but only after trying out all others.

Dec 02:     Our definitions of success could be different but the fact remains that we all are pursuing it.

Dec 03:     Giving is our need more than the receiver's. Let us give whatever we can before death takes away everything from us.

Dec 04:     Each new day is a precious gift to us, and it is entirely up to us to utilise it to enhance ourselves or to diminish ourselves.

Dec 05:     Life is a continuous celebration for those who wholeheartedly do what needs be done and is legally, ethically, and morally correct.

Dec 06:     Flaunting your knowledge is not good but it is much better than flaunting your connections.

Dec 07:     Our American friends ought to understand that religious freedom does not mean that you are free to buy others into your religion.

Dec 08:     "The Biden administration will continue to encourage it (India) to .. protect religious freedom for all", said a top US official. The US will have to give up this patronising stance otherwise it will be posited that just like China, it is comfortable only having vassal states, not allies.

Dec 09:     Postponing decision making in order to collect more information on the issue at hand is not a sign of indecisiveness.

Dec 10:     Creativity comes naturally to us but we have to learn how to hone it to bring out something of real value.

Dec 11:     A baby step forward today is better than the plans for a giant stride tomorrow.

Dec 12:     Before blaming others for your failures, make sure that you had not self-sabotaged.

Dec 13:     It is so painful that India's trade deficit with China should be steadily increasing year after year in spite of China's unceasing violations of the Line of Actual Control. It only shows the lack of national resolve on the part of India.

Dec 14:     Can we, the 1.40 billion people of India, not take up the challenge that we will balance our trade with China by the fiscal 2025-26 by increasing our exports and reducing the imports and doing whatever else that is required? If not, we should seriously consider calling ourselves a namby-pamby nation.

Dec 15:     Having soft power is definitely a matter of satisfaction but in order to be taken really seriously by others, India has to have hard power as well.

Dec 16:     In its quest to dominate the world, China can and will do anything, absolutely no holds barred.

Dec 17:     Sometimes the best possible action is no action at all, but only sometimes.

Dec 18:     Can a dimwit doubting its legendary bravery and valour lower the sky-high morale of the Indian Army even by a tiniest bit? The answer is an emphatic NO.

Dec 19:     India should clearly tell Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Australia that not stopping their citizens from sponsoring separatism and terrorism in India is an unfriendly act.

Dec 20:     Why should the government avoid a debate in Parliament on the situation at the Line of Actual Control?! It should, in fact, welcome this debate which will give it another chance to lambast Jawaharlal Nehru's repeated blunders in dealing with China.

Dec 21:     True leaders are also true followers; they truly follow their vision, values, and principles.

Dec 22:     Be your most ardent admirer, also your worst critic. You, after all, have the biggest stake in the You Inc.

Dec 23:     We must cultivate patience because we are here for the long haul.

Dec 24:     Life is not a bed of roses and thank God that it is not, otherwise we would never get up.

Dec 25:     The education which has not taught us to have consideration for others is mere literacy.

Dec 26:      Challenge yourself to come out with new ideas and you will be surprised that you could generate so many.

Dec 27:     If you intently look for them, you will find nuggets of wisdom strewn all over.

Dec 28:     When the rule of law is weak in the country, one's conscience should work overtime.

Dec 29:     The greatest challenge is how to connect your ordinary present to a great future.

Dec 30:     Casting our prejudices and inadequacies aside, we have to rise above our present circumstances.

Dec 31:     When your good deeds do not get noticed by others, does it hurt? If yes, you have work to do on yourself.
