Kanan Jaswal's Thoughts of the Days of September 2022

Sep 01:     We are often told to forgive everyone but how can we ever and why should we at all forgive the external and internal enemies of our nation and of our society, and the corrupt, the dishonest, and the shirkers who are hollowing out India from within?

Sep 02:     Can our government, scientists, technologists, engineers, and Industry take up the challenge that from the financial year 2032-33, India's defence exports would at least equal its defence imports, and that without compromising the national security even one tiny bit?

Sep 03:      What a shame that Hindus have to approach the Supreme Court against state governments managing their temples but not mosques and churches and are reportedly told by the bench that other religions may be having their own checks and balances!

Sep 04:     Gracefully accepting a compliment is a mark of high self-esteem.

Sep 05:     To avoid the minor inconvenience of wearing a seatbelt, if you are prepared to put your life in danger, you are a very bad gambler.

Sep 06:      Let us try to live at least a day in accordance with our highest principles. And if that does not kill us, we can repeat the effort whenever we want to feel great about ourselves.

Sep 07:     Politicians in a fractious democracy like India are always in the electioneering mode, leaving governance to the faceless and unaccountable bureaucrats.

Sep 08:     Really great that Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal, who six years ago took turns in standing with a Break India gang at New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University, are now leading the Unite India and the Make India No. 1 campaigns!

Sep 09:      Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not hold talks with the Chinese president Xi Jinping at Samarkand next week unless China agrees to withdraw its forces from the strategically important Depsang Plains near the Siachin Glacier

Sep 10:     How can India be Aatmanirbhar or self-dependent and at the same time allow thousands of its non-government organisations to receive donations from abroad for whatever purposes?

Sep 11:     Rahul Gandhi claims to be a Janeu-wearing devotee of Lord Shiv, yet he did not utter a single word in protest when talking to him a Christian inexcusably attacked Hinduism yesterday. Will Rahul remember this while temple-hopping in the run up to the next election? The people of India, definitely, will.

Sep 12:     Untrammelled greed drives capitalism; yes, it does drive capitalism to despair and disaster.

Sep 13:     Ever since 1919, when Gandhi led it to join Indian Muslims in agitating for restoration of khalifa's Muslim rule in Turkey, the Congress has not been pro-Hindu. But with Rahul Gandhi and his principal courtiers Jairam Ramesh and Digvijay Singh in the forefront, it has now become openly and shamelessly anti-Hindu.

Sep 14:     Be it his attempt not to allow the Republic Day parade in 2014 or his doubts on the Uri and Balakot surgical strikes, Arvind Kejriwal's attitude has been antithetical to India's armed forces. No surprise, therefore, that his party's government in Punjab is not helpful to the Army in recruiting Agniveers.

Sep 15:     So eager was Arvind Kejriwal, a "common" man, for his auto rikshaw ride in Ahmedabad that he chartered a plane for his travel from Delhi to that city. The estimated charter cost of Rs. five lac was perhaps met by 50000 auto rickshaw drivers contributing Rs.10 each.

Sep 16:     Law should be amended to leave only death sentence as the punishment for rape with murder, and there should be no provision for a mercy petition in such cases.

Sep 17:     Quite unethically and immorally, and absolutely illegally, Arvind Kejriwal has asked public servants in Gujarat to help the Aam Aadmi Party in winning the coming election in the state. Now, the Election Commission should make its presence felt by starting the process of derecognising AAP.

Sep 18:     It is a matter of satisfaction that the first punishment has been given under the Anti-Love Jihad Act of Uttar Pradesh, but the imprisonment of 1 to 10 years is not a sufficient punishment for ruining the life of a girl. Therefore, the law should be amended to provide for imprisonment of 10 to 20 years and fine of Rs.2 to 20 lakh.

Sep 19:     The British pauperised India by looting it of US$45 trillion in today's dollars, starved to death 3 million Indians in the British-caused Bengal famine of 1943, divided into two this thousands of years old country before granting it independence, then for decades supported Pakistan against India. Yet, a very large number of us Indians are getting so nostalgic and sentimental on the death of a British queen!

Sep 20:      Let this be clear that others don't owe you your happiness; if you want to be happy, you have to create your own happiness and live in it.

Sep 21:     Even creativity demands a disciplined approach.

Sep 22:     If you are going over your past again and again, you are stealing time from the present and leaving it unlived.

Sep 23:     Mother India never forsakes even those who have forsaken her for greener pastures, she invariably rushes to their help whenever they run into serious problems in their adopted countries.

Sep 24:     Sometimes the elements seem to be preparing more for your success than you are, but only sometimes!

Sep 25:     Has Xi Jinping been deposed or is it just a wishful thinking on the part of all those he has rubbed on the wrong side in his ten years as the unchallengeable ruler of China?

Sep 26:     The way you deal with an attack from an unexpected quarter shows  whether you can quickly pivot.

Sep 27:     Not doing a course correction when it is required is not perseverance but obduracy.

Sep 28:     Banning the Popular Front of India and eight affiliate organisations for five years is a step in the right direction but it falls far short of slaying the hydra-headed monster of Jihadism in India.

Sep 29:     How can we learn from our mistakes if we do not own them up in the first place?

Sep 30:     Saying no to unreasonable proposals or demands made by your friends is not easy but it is necessary if you want to avoid a really unpleasant situation later.
