Kanan Jaswal's Thoughts of the Days of June 2022

Jun 01:     Inadequate and improper communication is often at the root of relations turned sour.

Jun 02:     Whenever you find yourself performing well above your usual level, bask in its glory but do try your utmost to make it the new normal.

Jun 03:     It takes merit to judge merit, that is the reason most people consider who has said it more important than what has been said.

Jun 04:     If you find a friend suddenly turning hostile, give them some space and time, and mostly they will return to you with friendship renewed and, perhaps, stronger.

Jun 05:     If friends are not helping each other grow as a human being, their friendship should be suspect.

Jun 06:     In India, instead of policemen escorting them placing a friendly hand on their shoulders, those accused of serious crimes like terrorism, murder, rape and rioting ought to be handcuffed, arms behind their back, just as the accused even of white collar crimes are in the United States, the self-acclaimed champion of human rights.

Jun 07:     Appeasement is too high a price to pay for peace, particularly when you know fully well that such a peace can not last long.

Jun 08:     When you finally get to do something, and that successfully, it is natural to wonder why at all you had to procrastinate that much.

Jun 09:     The government supports us all the time but there may come a moment when it needs be supported by us.

Jun 10:     Defeating the enemy should not be our aim, it should be, instead, to become so strong that no one could afford to be our enemy.

Jun 11:     India is an eternal nation but those with brains mortgaged think, if they somehow can think, that the Indian nation was created by the Britishers.

Jun 12:     The belief that being in minority puts you in a position of privilege is dangerous.

Jun 13:     So long as nations exist, our first loyalty ought to be to the nation.

Jun 14:     When the assailant starts playing the victim card, we have to be extra extra-cautious.

Jun 15:     Helping one another, we can climb higher and faster than any one of us climbing individually.

Jun 16:     So long as lawlessness remains an important constituent of our national character, we Indians can, at best, only muddle through.

Jun 17:     It is an inflated ego that comes in the way of admitting one's mistake and reversing course.

Jun 18:     Whereas peaceful protest is a democratic right, violent protest is a crime. Besides being charged for their crimes, violent protesters should be debarred for life from all government and public sector jobs.

Jun 19:     Change is always unwelcome, particularly a change which is radical in nature and the rationale of which has not been explained properly.

Jun 20:     If cheated by someone, you may forgive them, but forgive yourself only on the condition that you will never allow yourself to be cheated again.

Jun 21:     Mutual trust is the foundation on which society is built.

Jun 22:     When pursued, success evades you; pursue, instead, your purpose, and success pursues you.

Jun 23:     Do what is right and do it well, always, and leave it to posterity to remember you for that or not.

Jun 24:     When you are about to write something, the blank paper or screen may scare you, but only for a few moments. It is because your desire to write is stronger than the fear of not being able to write anything.

Jun 25:     Work smart does not mean that you do not have to work hard.

Jun 26:     Imagine a world where people instead of envying others' achievements will get inspired by them.

Jun 27:     Know that you are entering a zone of danger when your habits - the ones you yourself do not consider good - have started dictating the terms to you.

Jun 28:     If the use of artificial intelligence could remarkably speed up the delivery of justice, let us have a whole-hearted go at it.

Jun 29:     Before we attempt to solve a problem, we have to have a belief in its solvability and in our ability to solve it.

Jun 30:     Starting with minor inconveniences, we can progressively train ourselves to remain undisturbed and calm, even happy, in whatever adverse circumstances.
