Kanan Jaswal's Thoughts of the Days of July 2022
Jul 01: Society progresses only when those who are awakened take it upon themselves to wake up others.
Jul 02: It is for the judges, having given their reasons, to accept or dismiss the petitions made to their courts but they have absolutely no right, repeat no right, to berate, humiliate, insult, and intimidate a petitioner into withdrawing the petition.
Jul 03: You may leave something half-done but be sure that it is not going to leave you any time soon.
Jul 04: Terrorists succeed in their demoniac designs only where the targeted society is riven with divisions.
Jul 05: Never you think that the task in front is too big for you because once you start and proceed rightly, you will notice you getting bigger and the task smaller.
Jul 06: You only have to open your mind to discover a world full of teachers waiting for you to learn from them.
Jul 07: Having begun our own life as a single cell not visible even through most microscopes, it is really strange that we should ever deride a small beginning of anything by others.
Jul 08: Grossly underestimating yourself is not modesty; it is, in fact, an invitation to the world to walk all over you.
Jul 09: In the ultimate analysis, it is up to us to allow or not the enormity of the task before us to overwhelm us into panic and inaction.
Jul 10: Non-violence is virtuous, and so is counter-violence.
Jul 11: Only by taking up big challenges, we get to know our limits and how to go beyond them.
Jul 12: Only the powerful have a choice to be peaceful, for others, it is a necessity, even a compulsion.
Jul 13: The edifice of reputation has to be assiduously built brick by brick but a moment of indiscretion is enough to knock it down.
Jul 14: We should take genuine appreciation as a call to us to row harder, and not as a signal to rest on our oars.
Jul 15: Life without ambition may not qualify to be called life because it is only survival.
Jul 16: Presuming a negative response from some particular persons, if you do not approach them with your proposal, you are denying yourself the chance, though apparently remote, of being pleasantly surprised by their 'Yes'.
Jul 17: For being constructive, criticism has to be focused, and not across the board.
Jul 17: For being constructive, criticism has to be focused, and not across the board.
Jul 18: For your success as a leader in these uncertain times, the ability to think on your feet is only a little less crucial than the ability to stand on your own feet.
Jul 19: By taking initiative, we can set ourselves apart from the crowd.
Jul 20: You have earned your spurs as a citizen if you get more happiness in paying taxes than in evading them.
Jul 21: If you want others to respect you, first, become worthy of it by respecting yourself and, more than that, by respecting your word.
Jul 22: Before aspiring to lead others, you should try to lead yourself in accordance with your vision, values, and principles.
Jul 23: Can anyone in his or her right mind claim that India, which can donate US$3 billion to Afghanistan and another US3 billion to Sri Lanka, itself needs any foreign donations for whatever purposes?
jul 24: Do something challenging and do it right without worrying whether or not it would make your resume or legacy stand out.
Jul 25: Let the improvements begin with you but let them not end at you; make others your equal partners in this enterprise.
Jul 26: By showing up on time, we take care of our first impression on people and set the tone for a positive relationship.
Jul 27: Life, as such, is simple; it is we who make it complicated and then crib about it.
Jul 28: There is no justification for any special status for religious minorities and various welfare schemes exclusively for them in a secular nation like India.
Jul 29: Terrorists have to be talked to in the only language they understand well - the language of violence.
Jul 30: Which religion we follow is our personal matter but, as Indians, it is our highest duty to defend this nation against external and internal enemies.
Jul 31: If one is not angry even in the face of gross injustice, something is basically wrong with the way their mind works, presuming it does work.
