Kanan Jaswal's Thoughts for the Days of December 2020
Dec: Rapid reading not only economises on time but, mostly, also on comprehension.
Dec: In raising others, we raise ourselves.
Dec: Your protest is peaceful only so long as it does not inconvenience others.
Dec: If you are not feelng confident enough to act, act all the same, the confidence will follow.
Dec: If someone wants to live life king-size, they should not shirk tackling king-size problems.
dec; Work not on your anger, but on your inadequacies which give rise to anger in you.
Dec: Life without ambitions and constant efforts to achieve them is only survival.
Dec: True leadership is built on people's trust, not on their love or respect.
Dec: We, the people of India, should decide whether a determined, well-organised, and well-funded horde of ten-twelve thousand should be allowed to hold the nation to ransom.
Dec: Non-violence becomes the brave and powerful, but for others, it is only a refuge.
Dec: If someone strikes you on one cheek, and you turn to him the other also, you deserved to be slapped at least twice more.
Dec: It takes hundreds of professions that are legal and ethical to collectively build a modern nation. They all are equally respectable and so are those who practise them honestly.
Dec: When one loses credibility, what remains is the mere shell of a human being.
Dec: Liberty does not mean a licence to do anything.
Dec: So long as the majority remains silent, it will have to suffer indignities and worse at the hands of a determined and well-organised minority.
Dec: An uncompromised conscience is our true leader.
Dec: Are we that interesting person we would like to spend time with? if an honest answer is "No", we ought to work on ourselves to get there.
Dec: Just as we brush our teeth everyday, we must do smething to brush our soul clean.
Dec: When my friends find me not living my own 'Thoughts', I would be grateful if they immediately held a mirror up to me.
Dec: We better start fully using now what we would one day regret having irretrievably lost.
Dec: If the team is only as good as its members, why do we need a captain?
Dec: Failures are teachers but it takes an eager student to learn from them.
Dec: Democracy should not be allowed to be reduced to majoritarianism but if it had already been reduced to minoritarianism, some correction is definitely needed to restore the balance.
Dec: You make yourself a second class citizen by putting your religion before the nation.
Dec: In forging our character, adverse circumstances play a much bigger role than those favourable.
Dec; Forget about others, do you have your own unqualified support?
Dec: Leaders have got to be polite and firm. But if they are too polite, the wrong elements will take them for a ride.
Dec: A great leader has with him some who are leaders in their own right and many who are leaders in the making, but never sycophants.
Dec: Treat time as your friend, rather than an enemy whose advance you have to stall and stop every which way.
Dec: If we perform each individual task, big or small, enthusiastically and mindfully, we are bound to be successful.
Dec: For staying afloat even on the choppiest waters, we should never let go of our values.
