Kanan Jaswal's Thoughts for the Days of July 2020
01 Jul: Life is a bed of rosebushes, and it is up to us to what extent we can make it a bed of roses.
02 Jul:From among the mice, the one that is not a mouse at heart will bell the cat.
03 Jul: Doing anything, pursue perfection; you should be satisfied, though, if you end up with excellence or even competence. But another task must see another pursuit of perfection.
04 Jul: No nation has ever achieved greatness without striving for it for decades, single-mindedly and ceaselessly. As for India, the journey to regain our long lost greatness has begun only now; but we will get there, this is for sure.
05 Jul: When the odds seem against, we may still undertake the task to see how far we can go before meeting the dead end. We would, perhaps, discover that there was no dead end.
06 Jul: So long as we are living, all can never be lost. In particularly difficult times, though, all may appear to be lost, but, then, that's only an appearance!
07 Jul: Creating something may or may not be serving any other useful purpose but it does make us feel fully alive.
08 Jul: The promises we have not kept never perish, they pile up, and a stage is bound to come when just one more unkept promise will make the pile topple over, crushing under it our self-confidence and self-image.
09 Jul: Something wrong remains wrong even if 100 persons are in favour of it, just as zero remains zero even if multiplied by 100.
10 Jul: No, I will not come up to your expectations. I have set my sights much higher, now I will come up to my own expectations.
11 Jul: Sailing in the ship of your life, never let go of the captain's control.
12 Jul: Let us aspire to be friendly to everyone and friendliest to the friendless.
13 Jul: Courage is admirable only when it is partnering integrity. For how dangerous and despicable courage can be without integrity, we just have to look at the conduct of the Chinese Communist Party ever since it won the civil war in 1949.
14 Jul: In 20 years of the 21st century, the world has suffered three pandemics - SARS, H1N1 swine flu, and COVID-19. It will be able to ward off such zoonotic diseases only by turning totally vegetarian.
15 Jul: Honesty is not an expensive hobby, as some say, it is only standing upright. Obviously, those with no backbone or with a broken one are not able to do that.
16 Jul: Of course, have a great self-image, but keep justifying it by your thoughts, words, and actions.
17 Jul: From the time the first ape stood up on its feet to the present day, it has been taking curiosity and efforts to gain height.
18 Jul: We don't let down others, we only let ourselves down in their eyes and in our own.
19 Jul: When adversely commenting on your views and actions, someone goes illogical again and again, take it that they resent you personally. Their criticism, therefore, should not bother you.
20 Jul: While going up, even standing, takes effort, falling down is effortless because you are only letting gravity do its work.
21 Jul: The circumstances are never going to be ideal but it is very much in us to make our responses to them ideal.
22 Jul: Constant self-talk determines how we work on the work-in-progress that we all are. In a way, thus, we are made or marred by this self-talk.
23 Jul: Do not blame incomplete information for not making a decision because the information is going to be complete only when the patient is dead.
24 Jul: If you really respect yourself and do so for right reasons, the world can never insult you. In fact, over time, it will learn to respect you.
25 Jul: Life can only be lived forward, not in the reverse. Allow the past, therefore, only to form the backdrop for your actions and not to guide your destiny.
26 Jul: If we really want to live well, we should not be creating hurdles in our path in the form of our bad habits.
27 Jul: We must strive to achieve perfection at least in one field of our activity. How else would we know that we are living?
28 Jul: We are truly honest only if we keep all our promises, including those we make to ourselves.
29 Jul: By leading from the hearts and by leading the hearts, you can achieve almost anything.
30 Jul: We learn from our parents, from our formal and informal teachers, from life around us, but we learn most from ourselves. We are our own greatest teachers.
02 Jul:From among the mice, the one that is not a mouse at heart will bell the cat.
03 Jul: Doing anything, pursue perfection; you should be satisfied, though, if you end up with excellence or even competence. But another task must see another pursuit of perfection.
